Step 1: Install and activate the LiveChat plugin.

  3. Click on that and you will see an option to “Search Plugin”.

That’s it. Now go to LiveChat »Settings from the left sidebar of the administration panel.

On the Settings page, you must log in to your LiveChat account by clicking the “Connect to LiveChat” button.

This will open a window where you have to create your account.

Enter your Email Id, Username and preferred Password. After that, click on “Continue”.

It will ask your website URL and chat purpose. You need to mention both and click on “Continue”.

After that, it will ask “your industry”, “Company Size” & “Mobile Number”. Enter all the required details and click on “Create account”.

Then WordPress will ask for permission to access your LiveChat account from the administrative area. Click Allow to end the process.

Step 2: Open Web Application & Configure General Settings

In Incognito mode, open your website and you will see an option at the bottom right to chat.

After clicking the “Start chat” button, the plugin will notify you that the user is waiting for your answer. If you have activated the notification sound in General settings, warn – this may sound very loud. The plugin will also require your consent to send browser notifications as soon as you receive the first message.

Customize the interface:

Please note the feature “Working Hours” lets you schedule working hours for agents. It automatically switches the agent’s status to Accept chats during working hours and to don’t accept chats when off.

Customize your chat widget

 In order to customize your chat widget, go to the Settings → Chat window → Customization

If you’re using Groups at LiveChat, you can choose a group to customize its chat widget.

Now, choose an element of the chat widget which you like to customize. 

 To customize your chat widget, see the “Preview” section on the right side of the screen. You can see all the changes displayed in real-time before applying them to your website. The preview feature provides separate views for both desktop and mobile devices.

You can also control when to display the chat widget icon on your website. 

Additional tweaks

 Turn on alerts for customers – By default, your customers will be notified of a new greeting and a new chat alert message. You should pay attention to this when, for example, they minimized the browser while talking to your agents. However, if you want to mute these sound notifications, just turn off this option.

Let clients rate agents – Use this option to decide if your clients can rate your agents during or after a chat.
